Registry Membership

Becoming a member of The Registry is easy and an important part of professional development. There is a place for all early care and education professionals on The Registry. This includes family providers, employees in group centers, staff in school-age programs, personnel in support organizations and others.

A Registry membership is required by the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families.

Regarding staff in a group center or school-age program:

DCF 251.04(5)(a)5
A certificate from The Registry documenting that the person has met the educational qualifications for the position if the person has worked as a teacher, director or administrator at the center for at least 3 months. A copy of an educator’s license issued by the department of public instruction as a teacher may substitute for a certificate from The Registry (teacher licenses issued by other states are acceptable). For persons not required to have a Registry certificate including assistant teachers and a teacher, center director or administrator who has not worked for the center for more than 3 months, documentation of the person’s educational qualifications shall be on file. Site supervisors, group leaders and assistant group leaders in a school-age only program shall obtain a certificate from The Registry within 6 months after assuming the position.

Regarding staff in a family child care program:
DCF 250.04 (5)(k)
For persons licensed or beginning work with children on or after January 1, 2009, a certificate from The Registry.

    Materials, certificates and documentation that have been submitted and verified by The Registry are entered onto a member account during the application process. The membership profile can be accessed online at any time free of charge and be used to construct a resume or fill in data gaps that might occur due to lost paperwork. Registry certificates are accepted by Wisconsin state licensing specialists.
  4. Participation in Other Programs
    Membership with The Registry allows individuals and organizations to participate in other programs such as YoungStar, T.E.A.C.H. and REWARD.
