Job Description: Professional Support Specialist – Parent Aware Supervised by: Achieve Center Director Essential Functions : In collaboration with the Professional Development Coordinator, the Professional Support Specialist – Parent Aware is responsible for: Serving as a liaison with Child Care Aware staff, DHS staff and members participating in the Parent Aware rating process (full rating and accelerated pathway rating) Implementing a plan for supporting members participating in the quality rating improvement process. This plan includes: Providing face-to-face and individualized support to members completing the individual membership initial or renewal application process. Entering ad hock training certificates to Learning Records as members provide documents without the requiring renewal of the individual membership. Explaining Achieve policies and procedures that directly related to the rating process. Qualifications Mandatory: Minimum of a 2 year degree (4 year preferred but not required) , adult education and/or organizational management field; or commensurate prior learning in a related subject. Minimum of one year of professional experience in a similar position. Preferred Experience and Skills: Bilingual Minimum of one year of professional experience in a similar position. Experience in the early learning and school-age field Scope of Responsibility: Support the Achieve team in meeting and exceeding contract expectations ensuring optimal customer satisfaction related to professional development support services. Processing individual membership applications. Schedule on-site visits to programs participating in Parent Aware. Provide exemplary customer support. Maintain communication via Achieve’s warmline (extended phone hours). Attend meetings and events in MN and WI, as required Facilitate face-to-face training and professional development opportunities. Facilitate online training and professional development opportunities. Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned. Skills and Abilities required: The ability to work in a highly political and professional climate where judgment calls will be a key component. A high level of ability to successfully manage and complete multiple assignments and priorities with limited supervision. The ability to establish effective working relationships with personnel at various levels. Strong attention to details using initiative, resourcefulness, poise, tact, and sound judgment. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, communicate, reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines.
